ELECTRICAL PROJECTS IN WINDSOR
Eton Colege - Rewiring the Provost's Lodge
The MEL team was challenged with essential rewiring work of the historic Provost’s Lodge as part of a huge refurbishment project at the world-renowned Eton College.
The provost of Eton College is appointed by the Crown to be the chair of the college’s governing body. The Lodge, a grade 1 listed building dating back to the 15th century, is the Provost’s on-site residence.
Equipped with their specialised knowledge and experience of rewiring listed buildings, our skilled electricians are precise and methodical when it comes to planning complex projects like this one.
Before we could get started, the original floorboards had to be carefully removed in order for us to access the old wiring. This allowed us to isolate and remove the dated electrical work so that we could install our own modern wiring.
Our team at MEL have worked carefully to ensure that the electrical installations in this building are compliant with modern standards. Work like this is crucial to preserving these invaluable heritage buildings and ensuring that they can be appreciated for generations to come.

Legoland - Lighting Upgrade in The Bricks Restaurant
After complaints that the Bricks Restaurant was too dark, the MEL team was tasked with developing a lighting solution which solved this problem and enhanced the immersive theme park experience.
Working closely with the Legoland Facilities team, our lighting specialists devised a colourful, energy-efficient solution.
A full lighting lux level survey allowed us to identify the darkest areas of the restaurant. We then worked with Kosnic Lighting and our key suppliers in order to realise a design which illuminated these darker areas whilst remaining fully compatible with the restaurant’s lighting control system: Mode Lighting’s ‘Evolution.’
After demonstrating a mock installation to the team at Legoland, we were given the green light to get started. Careful planning allowed us to complete the work within Legoland’s scheduled maintenance period in January 2025.
The result and the feedback have been overwhelmingly positive - the Legoland Vice President told us that the lighting is “amazing.” We have also been invited to look into lighting upgrades elsewhere in the park.
