MAIDENHEAD ELECTRICAL LTD
COMPANY HISTORY
THE BEGINNING
Andy Collins and Simon Brander created the MEL brand in 2015 and designed the logo to portray the Maidenhead Bridge where the business would be based from.
RAISING MONEY
In 2017, the team took on a large challenge of riding from London to Brighton to raise money for Cancer Research - the total raised was £4,400! MEL also secured another new client - Chelsea FC.
THE FIRST CLIENTS
MEL was established and work began with a team of 4 electricians. We celebrated our first Christmas and brought a handful of new clients on board: Nicholson McLaren, The Environment Agency, Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead Council, Glencore UK and Eton College.
A NEW HOME
MEL moved office to White Waltham with a growing team of 13.
EXPANSION
Once settled in to the new office, it was apparent that an expansion was necessary. An extension was added to the office to create a workshop space to increase capacity for the team of electricians and stock at MEL.
CHARITY EVENT
Sadly, the MEL team lost a colleague in 2021 called Weeto and they decided in 2022 to hold a cricket match, raising money for Thames Hospice in his memory. We also expanded our client base, bringing Iron Mountain on board.
COMMERCIAL FLEET
The team was now up to 19 and we had an impressive fleet of vans.
GROWING CLIENTS AND LONDON MARATHON
2024 was the year for securing new clients and maintaining existing contracts. Eton College awarded MEL a 5 year fixed contract for mechanical services and Johnson Controls, Cliveden Hotel and Legoland Windsor became new clients. Our director Andy and his wife, also took part in the London Marathon 2024, raising money for the charity NSPCC - the total raised was over £7,000!
SPONSORSHIPS
In 2024, MEL sponsored two local football teams - Windsor FC and Maidenhead United FC - to support our local community.
PROJECTS
Legoland Windsor - Custom restaurant lighting upgrade at the Bricks Restaurant within Legoland's flagship Resort Hotel.
Eton College - Specialist electrical works required to refurbish a historic and listed building - Provost’s Lodge - a landmark building at an iconic British institution.
PROGRESSION
This year, we focused on expanding our offering in Facilities Management and another office move - which was necessary to handle the growing workforce of now 35 employees.
LOOKING AHEAD
Our vision is to keep growing at the rate we are, which is sustainable, not too quickly. Doing it right at our end is important for our clients to be successful and that means MEL recruiting people that fit with our culture and promote our brand.
Our mission is to provide our clients with high-
quality and professional electrical services at a competitive cost; meeting their business requirements, providing client satisfaction and building ongoing partnerships.
