At MEL, we don't just do electrical work.
We also offer a full range of Facilities Management Services.
With the cold snap we are currently experiencing in the UK, our heating division has hit 2025 with the ground running.
An example of this is carrying out in-depth investigations on this Commercial Buderus Boiler which is part of the Worcester Bosch range of commercial boilers.
How Long Should A Worcester Bosch Boiler Last?
This Budurus boiler is one of two identical boilers that serve the Eton College Swimming Pool.
We always recommend having two boilers that can share the load for critical areas where you can’t afford any downtime. This helps prolong the life of the equipment when it doesn’t have one single boiler running 24/7, 365 days a year.
A boiler's life expectancy is calculated on it only needing to run 50% of the year.

How We Investigated a Commercial Boiler Repair
We were called out to investigate reports of this boiler going into fault when it was trying to ignite.
Our commercial heating engineer attended the site to strip down the boiler to identify the issue.
A full range of diagnostic checks were carried out by removing the burner, gas valve, fan, and probes, and we inspected the heat exchanger for visual signs of leakage.
Water was found to be located within the fan inside the boiler, preventing it from starting. This water was drained, and the boiler was reassembled.
Our engineer identified the gas valve wasn't operating correctly. We have now provided an in-depth report to Eton College with our recommendations on the remedial works.
Please watch for more updates on this repair once the replacement parts arrive.
